What you can expect
Every first visit is a full-length assessment, and every home programme is written for you. Here is how every plan of care works, whichever clinic you book.
In the treatment room
Every first visit is a full appointment: a proper history, a physical examination and a written plan you leave with. Most problems respond to graded loading rather than rest, so the programme you take home is the treatment and the time in the room supports it.
Where hands-on work, acupuncture or shockwave therapy helps, I use it, and I will tell you what it is for and how long I expect to need it.
Graded loading programmes built around your sport, your gym or your day, and progressed at every visit.
Neurofunctional needling, with electrical stimulation where it helps. Post-graduate certificate, McMaster University’s Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program.
Targeted needling of sensitive, overactive muscle to help ease pain and make movement easier.
Hands-on joint work, including spinal manipulation as a rostered practitioner.
Hands-on treatment of tight, tender muscles and sensitive nerves to ease pain and help you move more freely.
Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilisation: a smooth-edged tool to treat stiff, irritated tissue.
Suction cups that lift the skin and soft tissue, held in place, or moved while you move.
Acoustic-wave treatment for persistent tendon problems that have not settled with loading alone.
A standardised seven-movement screen that gives a baseline to train from and retest.
A close look at how you move and run, to find what is loading the painful area.
Online consults by secure video anywhere in Ontario, and in-home visits for patients who cannot travel.

Before you book
No. In Ontario you can book directly with a registered physiotherapist, no referral needed. Some extended health plans, and motor vehicle or workplace injury claims, have their own requirements, so it is worth checking your plan before your first visit.
OHIP only covers physiotherapy for certain eligible groups at OHIP-funded clinics. Appointments with me are private, not billed to OHIP. Most extended health benefit plans cover registered physiotherapy, and you receive a receipt after every visit to submit to your plan.
Direct billing depends on the clinic and on your insurer. Ask when you book and the clinic will confirm whether they can bill your plan directly.
A full-length assessment: a detailed history, a physical examination and a clear explanation of what is going on. We start treatment in the same session, and you leave with a written plan and a home programme. Wear or bring clothing that lets me see and move the area: shorts for hips, knees and ankles; a tank top for shoulders and the upper back.
The one easiest for you to get to. Athlete’s Care at Yonge and Eglinton (Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings) sees most post-operative rehabilitation and offers shockwave therapy; Push Pounds downtown on University Avenue (Tuesdays and Thursdays) suits anyone who wants gym-based rehab, from recovery after surgery to getting back to lifting; The Runner’s Academy on St. Clair West (Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons) has a running focus; and my Whitby home office (in-office, in-home or virtual) is Saturday mornings, by appointment only.
No. I treat everyone: from desk workers with neck and back pain, to people recovering from surgery, to weekend runners and professional and Olympic-level athletes. The approach is the same: find what is driving the problem and build a plan around your goals.
It depends on what the assessment finds and on your goals. After the first visit I will explain what I expect, set clear markers for progress, and review the plan as we go, rather than booking a fixed number of visits in advance.
Yes. Virtual consults by secure video are available for patients anywhere in Ontario: assessments, second opinions, post-op check-ins and programme reviews. In-home visits are available for patients who cannot easily travel. Call or text 647-567-7742 to book.
